USA Pix picks up Schaeffer laffer
 
Romantic comedy stars Clayburgh, Tambor

HOLLYWOOD -- USA Films has acquired domestic distribution rights to writer-director Eric Schaeffer's romantic comedy "Never Again," starring Jill Clayburgh and Jeffrey Tambor.  Pic looks at two lovelorn fifty-something New Yorkers: an exterminator-cum-jazz musician (Tambor), who begins to question his 
sexual orientation after years of one-night stands, and a divorcee (Clayburgh) looking to jump-start her life.

Film co-stars Caroline Aaron, Bill Duke, Michael McKean and Sandy Duncan. "Never Again" marks the first of Schaeffer's five films in which he has not appeared.

The Amy Robinson presentation was produced by Terence Michael, Dawn Wolfrom and Bob Kravitz. Pic debuted at Austin's South by Southwest Film Festival. Steven Raphael, USA's senior VP acquisitions and co-productions, brought the film to the company.

Schaeffer's previous films as writer, director and actor were "My Life's in Turnaround," "If Lucy Fell," "Fall" and "Wirey Spindell."

Upcoming USA releases include Joel and Ethan Coen's "The Man Who Wasn't There"; Neil LaBute's "Possession," starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Aaron Eckhart; Robert Altman's "Gosford Park"; and the untitled project being 
developed by Billy Bob Thornton, Todd Harris and Tom Epperson with Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz set to star.
